Terms.From.Teacher — guide for teachers
Your own collection for the lessons you teach: the key terms with their meanings, short lesson notes,
and diagrams. It is free, and it works with the paper maker, Read.Drill.Quiz.Exam.Ap.
Where your work is kept. Only on this phone (or computer), in its browser. Nothing is sent to us
or anyone else. So save a backup now and then (on the first screen) and keep the file somewhere else —
send it to yourself on WhatsApp or by email. On a new phone, press Bring back a backup and choose that file.
1. Terms and meanings
- Press Terms and meanings, then ✚ Add a term. Give the subject and the lesson, the term, and what it
means. An example sentence is optional.
- Save and add another keeps the subject and lesson, so a whole lesson's terms go in quickly.
- Already have a list? 📋 Add a whole list: one term on each line, the meaning after a dash, a colon or a tab.
A list copied from Word or Excel works.
- 🖨️ Print or PDF prints the terms you can see (choose a subject first to print just that one). To make a PDF,
choose “Save as PDF” on your phone's printing screen.
2. Lesson notes
Press Lesson notes, then ✚ A new note. Write as much or as little as you like and press Save.
A note can be printed on its own, or all the notes of a subject together.
3. Diagrams
- ✏️ Draw a diagram: choose the shape of page, then draw with a finger or a pen. The tools: pen, straight line,
arrow, box, circle, T for a written label, the rubber (touch a line to take it away), undo and redo; four
colours and three thicknesses; ▦ squares to help you keep things straight (the squares are saved with it).
- 📸 Take a photo opens the camera, for a board drawing or a page. On an iPhone, use Safari: Chrome on an iPhone may refuse the camera (then press 📷 Open the phone's own camera, or take the photo with the Camera app and choose it below). 🖼️ A picture from my phone takes one already on the phone: a photo, or a picture you made on a computer (a PNG or JPG exported from
CorelDRAW, for example). You can then write labels and arrows on it.
- Give every diagram a title — that is how you find it again in the paper maker.
4. Using them in a paper
- Open Read.Drill.Quiz.Exam.Ap on the same phone and make a paper. Choose the subject
“My own terms and notes”: your subjects and lessons are the topics.
- A fact drill takes your own meanings, word for word. A quiz or examination gets questions made
from your terms (“What is meant by …?”, and which term matches a meaning), which you can change as usual.
- On any question of a quiz or examination, press 🖼️ Add one of my diagrams. It prints with the paper and goes
in the link you send to pupils. Change the diagram here later and the paper keeps the copy it was made with.
5. Symbols: x², H₂O, Ω, √, →
When you are writing in a box, a small Ω x² button appears at its corner. It opens a tray of raised and
lowered numbers, maths signs, Greek letters, science signs and units, and letters such as ɛ, ɔ and ₵. Press
Raise or Lower and what you type next comes out as x² or H₂O, until you press Normal.
The same button is in every Wake app where you type.
