Everything you need to use Wake Fashion.Design.Lessons.Ap β how to start, how lessons and drills work, how to read a report, and how to keep results safe.

To keep a copy: use your browser's Print option and choose βSave as PDFβ.
This app is a foundation course in fashion design for anyone of 12 and over: drawing the fashion figure, colour, the principles of design, fibres and fabrics, the textiles of Ghana and Africa, measuring and fit, pattern cutting, sewing, fashion history, research and mood boards, textile design, the business of fashion, sustainability, and building a portfolio. One short lesson at a time, with practice after every lesson and an explanation after every answer.
It also has My studio, a folder on the phone for the learner's own creative work (chapter 4).
The lessons follow what the leading fashion schools teach in their first years, written in our own words. No school is named, and nothing is copied from any school's course. Designers from history are named only with facts.
Scissors, pins, irons, sewing machines and dyes can hurt. The lessons say how to use them safely; a younger learner should use them with a grown-up nearby.
The app runs in a web browser, but it is meant to live on the home screen like any other app. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the three dots and choose Add to Home screen or Install app. On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap the share button and choose Add to Home Screen.
Once it is there it opens full screen and works with no internet at all.
Opening the file inside WhatsApp, Gmail or a file manager shows a preview, and previews do not run apps: the buttons will not respond. Ask for the web link rather than the file, and open it in Chrome or Safari.
Tap Add a learner, then give a first name, an age and a picture. No email is asked for, nothing is paid, and the app opens at once. Up to five learners can share one phone.
Nothing is locked. The lessons are numbered in a sensible order, but you can open any of them at any time.
β² Back to the contentsTap a lesson and its pages appear one at a time β Next page and Back move between them. On the last page, Start the drill appears. A learner who already knows the lesson can skip straight there from any page.
After every answer, right or wrong, the app shows the right answer and why it is right. Nothing moves on by itself.
On questions with numbers (measuring, patterns, costing) a yellow pencil opens a sheet of squared paper for working. Nothing on it is saved.
About four in ten questions in a round are drawn from what that learner has missed before. Mixed revision on the home screen draws questions from every lesson started.
β² Back to the contentsTap Open My studio on the home screen (or on the first screen). It keeps:
Give each piece a collection or project name and they are grouped together. Print a portfolio puts chosen pieces one to a page: choose Save as PDF on the printing screen to keep it.
Reports, Settings, Support and the class dashboard sit behind a multiplication question. It is not security; it simply stops a report or a setting being changed by accident.
My chart shows scores over time and a board of every lesson, green where it is secure. Questions I miss lists the questions this learner gets wrong most often, with a button to practise exactly those.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Questions per round | 5, 10, 15 or 20. A lesson's drill never repeats a question to fill a round. |
| Way of speaking and voice | Which accent and voice read the questions aloud. |
| Sounds | Turns the tones off. |
| Animations | Turns off movement. |
| Bring back questions I missed more often | Weaves past mistakes back into rounds. Leave it on. |
The report is written from the learner's own recorded answers: drills done, accuracy, each lesson, a chart, the questions missed most, and recommendations. You can print it, save it as a PDF, email it or send it on WhatsApp. It is not a school grade.
β² Back to the contentsThe first 3 days are free, with no card. After that a grown-up chooses a plan: GHβ΅15 a month or GHβ΅150 a year for up to 3 learners on one phone, or GHβ΅700 a year for a class of up to 40. Payment is by mobile money or card through Paystack, and the receipt goes to the grown-up's email. A code from a school or teacher can be typed in on the plans screen instead.
β² Back to the contentsAlmost always the browser's data was cleared, or the app was opened in a different browser. Results live in the browser that made them. Restore from a backup β see the next chapter.
Close every tab of the app and open it again, with internet on.
Tell us through Support, saying which lesson and question.
β² Back to the contentsEvery result lives in this browser on this device, and nowhere else. Nothing is uploaded to us. That keeps a learner's work private β and it means that clearing the browser, changing phone or reinstalling will lose it unless you have saved a backup.
Settings β Save a backup writes a small file to the device. Email it to yourself and it is safe. To bring it back: Settings β Restore from a backup. If the learner already exists on the device, the copy with more history is kept.
My studio is kept on the phone too, and its pictures are not in the learner's backup. In My studio, tap Save a copy of my studio now and then, and send the file to yourself. Bring a copy back adds it to the phone again.
Settings β Clear results wipes that learner's scores but keeps the learner. Settings β Erase this pupil removes the learner and everything they did. It cannot be undone, so save a backup first.
